You’ll probably see the first of the spots called “Proposal” if you happen to be watching a network TV show. The film tells the story of a young man getting down on one knee in front of his girlfriend to seemingly propose to her. Anticipating a diamond ring, she is instead offered an oversized green velvet box. The earnest suitor asks “Will you...have lunch with me?” as he opens the box to present her with the tasty treat (a Subway Ciabatta sandwich!). Our heroine answers excitedly in the affirmative, nearly losing her shit.</p></div></div><div class="sqs-block image-block sqs-block-image" data-block-type="5" id="block-yui_3_17_2_1_1562774964981_109387"><div class="sqs-block-content"> <div class="image-block-outer-wrapper layout-caption-below design-layout-inline combination-animation-none individual-animation-none individual-text-animation-none"> <div class="intrinsic" style="max-width:1512.0px;"> <div style="padding-bottom:133.33334350585938%;" class="image-block-wrapper has-aspect-ratio" data-description="" > <noscript><img src="https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/5b67244212b13f4790f85c59/1562776564070-WOWHKMP6OAHLF6OEF1OE/ke17ZwdGBToddI8pDm48kE7rzW71lVannA7ss0qjk617gQa3H78H3Y0txjaiv_0fDoOvxcdMmMKkDsyUqMSsMWxHk725yiiHCCLfrh8O1z5QPOohDIaIeljMHgDF5CVlOqpeNLcJ80NK65_fV7S1UVMvA6EhwsOrfTkMALdJIHFEne3Oxko85EEaGtu9tbaJ_RvfoQ25ZlgT83SK2RCHFg/IMG_0773+%281%29.jpg" alt="IMG_0773 (1).jpg" /></noscript><img class="thumb-image" data-src="https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/5b67244212b13f4790f85c59/1562776564070-WOWHKMP6OAHLF6OEF1OE/ke17ZwdGBToddI8pDm48kE7rzW71lVannA7ss0qjk617gQa3H78H3Y0txjaiv_0fDoOvxcdMmMKkDsyUqMSsMWxHk725yiiHCCLfrh8O1z5QPOohDIaIeljMHgDF5CVlOqpeNLcJ80NK65_fV7S1UVMvA6EhwsOrfTkMALdJIHFEne3Oxko85EEaGtu9tbaJ_RvfoQ25ZlgT83SK2RCHFg/IMG_0773+%281%29.jpg" data-image="https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/5b67244212b13f4790f85c59/1562776564070-WOWHKMP6OAHLF6OEF1OE/ke17ZwdGBToddI8pDm48kE7rzW71lVannA7ss0qjk617gQa3H78H3Y0txjaiv_0fDoOvxcdMmMKkDsyUqMSsMWxHk725yiiHCCLfrh8O1z5QPOohDIaIeljMHgDF5CVlOqpeNLcJ80NK65_fV7S1UVMvA6EhwsOrfTkMALdJIHFEne3Oxko85EEaGtu9tbaJ_RvfoQ25ZlgT83SK2RCHFg/IMG_0773+%281%29.jpg" data-image-dimensions="1512x2016" data-image-focal-point="0.5,0.5" alt="IMG_0773 (1).jpg" data-load="false" data-image-id="5d2613f1e4b7710001fe4ae0" data-type="image" /> </div> </div> </div> </div></div><div class="sqs-block html-block sqs-block-html" data-block-type="2" id="block-yui_3_17_2_1_1562774964981_109674"><div class="sqs-block-content"><p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">There were a lot of firsts on this shoot: Greg’s first job with Tomorrow. That word–––“authentic”–––gets thrown around by every director, creative, client, and producer who sets out to make a docu-style campaign. We all have authenticity fatigue; the more we see spots of people talking to camera with cutaways of “real” moments, the more we turn away. And the more “real” these campaigns try to be, the faker they seem to become.</p><p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">My conversations with Jeff, Dan, Nick, Christina, Alan and the team at GTB started with a simple question: How can we make a testimonial feel fresh to a modern audience?<strong> </strong>That question began a journey of self-reflection and discovery.&nbsp;</p><p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Throughout the process, one of the key questions we kept asking is “why should our audience trust this stranger telling us about their SUV?”<strong> </strong>Trust is not something that comes easily, but if it can be harnessed, trust is the secret ingredient that kills inauthenticity. As we started talking about the Expedition and the people who drive it, we kept coming back to the vehicle’s interior and what it empowers a family to do. An Expedition can be a playground, an office, a storage locker and a restaurant among a million other tasks, but what does it do best? <em>It protects the people we love while bringing us together.</em></p><p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">All of these talks inspired a seed: what if the whole story was shot from inside the vehicle? We wanted to create a world that was a collection of moments that our families would normally be too busy to notice. Those little interactions you might catch a glimpse of in the rearview mirror on the way to your next destination.</p><p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">But how best to tell this interior story? As it happened, I spent last summer traveling the country, visiting and documenting state fairs with my girlfriend. We were traveling light so needed our gear to be nimble while also giving us the intimacy we wanted with our subjects. After lots of testing, I landed on shooting with 16mm lenses on my Alexa. I had found some old French military lenses and a wide-angled lens NASA had sent to space. (Quite literally, my lens has been to space. If that’s not worth the eBay premium I don’t know what is). As I ran through the rows of cattle and goats, I noticed the wide did something: it’s smaller sensor design could show you the whole space but didn’t have that oppressive “GoPro” distortion or gross <em>The</em> <em>Revenant</em> rectilinear thing that large format lenses do to everyone’s face. Somehow it was fisheye wide without an ocean of consequences.</p></div></div><div class="sqs-block image-block sqs-block-image" data-block-type="5" id="block-yui_3_17_2_1_1561661614653_55595"><div class="sqs-block-content"> <div class="image-block-outer-wrapper layout-caption-below design-layout-inline combination-animation-none individual-animation-none individual-text-animation-none"> <div class="intrinsic" style="max-width:2500.0px;"> <div style="padding-bottom:75.12000274658203%;" class="image-block-wrapper has-aspect-ratio" data-description="" > <noscript><img src="https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/5b67244212b13f4790f85c59/1561663538590-ZMQR7W7OL7CDBC8YRGO2/ke17ZwdGBToddI8pDm48kGalivP0gwHmntCMYYZVzBh7gQa3H78H3Y0txjaiv_0fDoOvxcdMmMKkDsyUqMSsMWxHk725yiiHCCLfrh8O1z4YTzHvnKhyp6Da-NYroOW3ZGjoBKy3azqku80C789l0plef_PmwB6-3GP4qDbCUv92Du-NGmLJS6rLFW6lohgQsEYPYfZxA8yfoVIIuDP8kQ/image1+%282%29.jpeg" alt="image1 (2).jpeg" /></noscript><img class="thumb-image" data-src="https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/5b67244212b13f4790f85c59/1561663538590-ZMQR7W7OL7CDBC8YRGO2/ke17ZwdGBToddI8pDm48kGalivP0gwHmntCMYYZVzBh7gQa3H78H3Y0txjaiv_0fDoOvxcdMmMKkDsyUqMSsMWxHk725yiiHCCLfrh8O1z4YTzHvnKhyp6Da-NYroOW3ZGjoBKy3azqku80C789l0plef_PmwB6-3GP4qDbCUv92Du-NGmLJS6rLFW6lohgQsEYPYfZxA8yfoVIIuDP8kQ/image1+%282%29.jpeg" data-image="https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/5b67244212b13f4790f85c59/1561663538590-ZMQR7W7OL7CDBC8YRGO2/ke17ZwdGBToddI8pDm48kGalivP0gwHmntCMYYZVzBh7gQa3H78H3Y0txjaiv_0fDoOvxcdMmMKkDsyUqMSsMWxHk725yiiHCCLfrh8O1z4YTzHvnKhyp6Da-NYroOW3ZGjoBKy3azqku80C789l0plef_PmwB6-3GP4qDbCUv92Du-NGmLJS6rLFW6lohgQsEYPYfZxA8yfoVIIuDP8kQ/image1+%282%29.jpeg" data-image-dimensions="2500x1878" data-image-focal-point="0.5,0.5" alt="image1 (2).jpeg" data-load="false" data-image-id="5d15182cf3764b0001a4ccbc" data-type="image" /> </div> </div> </div> </div></div><div class="sqs-block html-block sqs-block-html" data-block-type="2" id="block-yui_3_17_2_1_1561661614653_55882"><div class="sqs-block-content"><p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Our cinematographer on the Ford project, Luca Del Puppo, joined me at a dealership so we could test this theory that the lens would give us the exact right feeling. We took one of my wides inside the vehicle and it felt like we had discovered a magic trick. The Expedition transformed into a giant playground and we still looked like normal people inside. This childlike perspective made a lot of discoveries possible. Suddenly, there was no limit to what we could capture in the vehicle, as we made my Alexa small enough to go anywhere your iPhone could. The idea that “form follows function” can sometimes feel a bit abstract, until you land on the perfect tool or technique to tell the story in the way that you imagine. It’s an <em>egad!</em> moment –––and a HUGE relief!</p><p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">A testimonial is a re-telling and I wanted to honor that tradition in our narrative. This didn’t have to be a single day in someone’s life, but a collection of moments we popped into like we were living through <em>Slaughterhouse Five</em>. These moments would never have to feel forced because our family could always be in motion, living their lives while completing a task or getting ready for their next destination. The interior of the vehicle quickly transformed into the feeling of a magic blanket that could transform into any shape or size you needed for your family to forget about what the car was doing and buy you an extra minute to live.</p><p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">We started meeting our families as the seeds of this approach started to grow. There is nothing like casting to teach you what your story is really about. In all the insights and analytics, we forget people actually love the things they own. No one has a good answer to “what does your family do in your Expedition?” so we took another angle: what feature of your vehicle has changed your life the most? This was never going to be a feature video, but that’s why people buy these vehicles, so why not use it to get a better sense of who they are?</p></div></div><div class="sqs-block image-block sqs-block-image" data-block-type="5" id="block-yui_3_17_2_1_1561661614653_60184"><div class="sqs-block-content"> <div class="image-block-outer-wrapper layout-caption-below design-layout-inline combination-animation-none individual-animation-none individual-text-animation-none"> <div class="intrinsic" style="max-width:2500.0px;"> <div style="padding-bottom:67.07999420166016%;" class="image-block-wrapper has-aspect-ratio" data-description="" > <noscript><img src="https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/5b67244212b13f4790f85c59/1561663614210-D8DYPQL442VQPJ4XWETD/ke17ZwdGBToddI8pDm48kFWbfvKoGaFShhMcKfsq37t7gQa3H78H3Y0txjaiv_0fDoOvxcdMmMKkDsyUqMSsMWxHk725yiiHCCLfrh8O1z4YTzHvnKhyp6Da-NYroOW3ZGjoBKy3azqku80C789l0ouw-8l5B_J38LMU7OZFvYcziOCI9cMyju6s5Dts8o5YzjUQu2gQZ2SBUKJEz7xDLA/VOt-siKa.jpeg" alt="VOt-siKa.jpeg" /></noscript><img class="thumb-image" data-src="https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/5b67244212b13f4790f85c59/1561663614210-D8DYPQL442VQPJ4XWETD/ke17ZwdGBToddI8pDm48kFWbfvKoGaFShhMcKfsq37t7gQa3H78H3Y0txjaiv_0fDoOvxcdMmMKkDsyUqMSsMWxHk725yiiHCCLfrh8O1z4YTzHvnKhyp6Da-NYroOW3ZGjoBKy3azqku80C789l0ouw-8l5B_J38LMU7OZFvYcziOCI9cMyju6s5Dts8o5YzjUQu2gQZ2SBUKJEz7xDLA/VOt-siKa.jpeg" data-image="https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/5b67244212b13f4790f85c59/1561663614210-D8DYPQL442VQPJ4XWETD/ke17ZwdGBToddI8pDm48kFWbfvKoGaFShhMcKfsq37t7gQa3H78H3Y0txjaiv_0fDoOvxcdMmMKkDsyUqMSsMWxHk725yiiHCCLfrh8O1z4YTzHvnKhyp6Da-NYroOW3ZGjoBKy3azqku80C789l0ouw-8l5B_J38LMU7OZFvYcziOCI9cMyju6s5Dts8o5YzjUQu2gQZ2SBUKJEz7xDLA/VOt-siKa.jpeg" data-image-dimensions="2500x1677" data-image-focal-point="0.5,0.5" alt="VOt-siKa.jpeg" data-load="false" data-image-id="5d15187c2dc5340001d10ce6" data-type="image" /> </div> </div> </div> </div></div><div class="sqs-block html-block sqs-block-html" data-block-type="2" id="block-yui_3_17_2_1_1561661614653_60471"><div class="sqs-block-content"><p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Each person’s answer grew into the spine of their story and a way in during production. Our focus was on how each action reveals the family’s character. What do the objects your kids hide in a back seat pocket say about you? We never hesitated to show the little ways they’ve made the Explorer their own and what it says about them. By giving our families the chance to reveal their true selves, I knew they would surprise us, giving us a way of displaying these vehicles we could never have storyboarded.</p><p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Believing that the idea in your head is good enough is hubris. In a world where we don’t even know if we see the same color the same way, how could we ever assume we have the imagination to know what the world needs to connect? Welcome to Tomorrow Greg!
<div class="sqs-layout sqs-grid-12 columns-12" data-layout-label="Post Body" data-type="item" data-updated-on="1558652584684" id="item-5ce72572f9619a62c98de56f"><div class="row sqs-row"><div class="col sqs-col-12 span-12"><div class="sqs-block html-block sqs-block-html" data-block-type="2" id="block-0d3d0c3d52ce77222c63"><div class="sqs-block-content"><p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">This story begins five years ago, when Greg and Chris started working together. Their first campaign was for Coco’s. One spot told the story of Grown Man #1 pushing Grown Man #2 into a Coco’s restaurant in an oversized baby stroller so that GM #2 could eat for free off of the kid’s menu. The other featured real live cowboys, horses, pie…and an oddly satisfying outburst of “Patty Cake.” Greg got to collaborate with a killer team at DeVito Verdi and brought his absurdly funny sensibilities into every detail of the work. It was a winning campaign, and Greg was off to the races.</p><p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Greg is the best hugger in advertising. Somehow he’s managed to keep a slight Texas accent while living in the Bay Area for the past twenty years. He has more friends in the business than you can count and fewer enemies than a summer intern. He brings his impressive agency background into his work in a way that only strengthens the creative that he touches. He’s passionate, caring, and ridiculously positive. Greg is the archetype Cliff Freeman-type comedy director while he also pushes and pushes to modernize humor. He is uncompromising until it’s time to compromise. He REALLY cares about his projects: he’s never once “phoned it in,” and he’ll keep positively fighting to make the spots the very best they can be until they are on the air…and even when they are on the air, he’ll push to make them better.</p><p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Greg likes a proper drink. Cinnamon Moscow Mule? Why, yes please! Appletini? Bring two!! A handsome man’s man who is in touch with his more feminine side; he loves his wonderful kids and his amazing girlfriend Monika.</p><p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">He looks at the world through a filter of kindness and joy. You’ll never see him take a shot at anybody – to him, the “funny” comes from holding up a mirror so that we can see how absurd real life is at times. In Greg’s work, we see a little of ourselves, and we laugh. That quality alone makes him the perfect fit for Tomorrow. Add every other quality and it’s a ridiculously perfect fit. </p><p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Finally, thanks to<a href="https://adage.com/article/production-moves/tool-signs-na-frenette-greg-bell-moves-tomorrow/2173241?fbclid=IwAR3RIFjQpX-IsfgL4BN4wCUjl-r-ViCupVICQEHlNZNZtx9feauqEKCg0K0"> Ad Age</a> and <a href="https://www.shootonline.com/node/80556?fbclid=IwAR0GlJXN3p0ZkmuuDY_htfmfjKUZtWlv1dqTP7Tu_tChWBkkIayDR7qUZ3Q">SHOOT </a>and <a href="https://www.thesfegotist.com/news/2019/05/16/greg-bell-joins-tomorrow-for-u-s-representation/?fbclid=IwAR1rNaIUZ4Yu9Hxujt-XM2eUjGwBqvlN9uRn250lq1C8Ngy8YJAizfdFkyo">SF Egotist</a> and <a href="https://www.shots.net/news/view/agency-founder-turned-director-greg-bell-joins-tomorrow?fbclid=IwAR2KsYHZruI1YSneAopAa0r_aGqejwWF5h7FEgsWDTBkIiVLiOzzPCqMVzs">Shots </a>and <a href="https://lbbonline.com/news/tomorrow-signs-venables-bell-and-partners-founder-greg-bell/">Little Black Book </a>for acknowledging Greg’s move to Tomorrow. It's usually right around the point you realize they are human and they did their best with you. Since then, our relationship has been full of long conversations and sharing stories. </p><p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">As we spoke more I realized how differently the two of us have seen so many of the same things. With Mother's Day coming I thought this film could be an opportunity to explore what I learned about our relationship and share that same gift with the other families who participated.</p><p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">I hope the film allows people to take a moment to think about/remember/send some love to your mother (or be celebrated yourself). Behind the Scenes on Parker's New Music Video
<div class="sqs-layout sqs-grid-12 columns-12" data-layout-label="Post Body" data-type="item" data-updated-on="1554493184498" id="item-5ca7ac4a0d92974cb4121932"><div class="row sqs-row"><div class="col sqs-col-12 span-12"><div class="sqs-block html-block sqs-block-html" data-block-type="2" id="block-126b10806560d86700ae"><div class="sqs-block-content"><p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Parker just finished directing a music video for Jackie Cruz, best known as one of the stars of Orange Is the New Black. Jackie has started focusing on her music career. Here are Parker’s recollections from her recent shoot:</p><p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">My latest music video, Melly 16 was released a couple of weeks ago, and it was a real treat to be a part of. The song was for the artist Jackie Cruz, and I co-directed the video with my long time friend and fellow NYU-alum Sebastian Sdaigui. Sdaigui is the creative director on Jackie's newest album, and he brought me on board to shoot the album cover and direct another video for it (which will be released next month). Working with Jackie has been such a collaborative process, and I was honored when she trusted me to help tell her story.</p><p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Melly 16 is a loose interpretation of a traumatic car accident Jackie was in when she was 16. She was temporarily paralyzed and in the hospital for months. The doctors told her mom to say goodbye and they even called in a priest. Jackie's mom pleaded and said that she wanted to keep Jackie on life support for one more day, and then a miracle happened.</p><p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Our video, which follows a Young Jackie before and after the accident, shows the strain on the mother-daughter relationship from such a traumatic event, and how Jackie found her strength to keep pursuing her dreams after she thought they were impossible. The real Jackie walks through scenes from her past and reflects on how it has shaped her today.</p><p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">The film stars Jackie, Laura Gomez (one of Jackie's unbelievably talented co-stars on Orange is the New Black) and new-to-the-scene Bettina Colciago. A funny story about how we casted Bettina: Jackie was incredibly specific about who should play her younger self (as anyone would be), and after seeing dozens of actresses, Jackie decided to post on Instagram looking for a 16 year old who looks like her. Jackie's 1.5 Million followers left quite a few comments and DM's. After sorting through the masses, someone recommended Bettina, a mere 16 year old student from Ft. Lauderdale who had never acted before. What a surprising phone call that must've been to her parents, Jackie face-timed them and told them her whole story, and the next thing this girl knew she was on the plane to LA--her first time leaving the state of Florida. It worked out so well, and Bettina did an amazing job (and she looks strangely like a Young Jackie Cruz, it's kind of trippy).</p></div></div><div class="sqs-block image-block sqs-block-image" data-block-type="5" id="block-yui_3_17_2_1_1554496266562_27175"><div class="sqs-block-content"> <div class="image-block-outer-wrapper layout-caption-below design-layout-inline combination-animation-none individual-animation-none individual-text-animation-none"> <div class="intrinsic" style="max-width:2500.0px;"> <div style="padding-bottom:75.0%;" class="image-block-wrapper has-aspect-ratio" data-description="" > <noscript><img src="https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/5b67244212b13f4790f85c59/1554496579762-XPZTBD6EKJL0Y697GALO/ke17ZwdGBToddI8pDm48kDHPSfPanjkWqhH6pl6g5ph7gQa3H78H3Y0txjaiv_0fDoOvxcdMmMKkDsyUqMSsMWxHk725yiiHCCLfrh8O1z4YTzHvnKhyp6Da-NYroOW3ZGjoBKy3azqku80C789l0mwONMR1ELp49Lyc52iWr5dNb1QJw9casjKdtTg1_-y4jz4ptJBmI9gQmbjSQnNGng/Rough+v6+4+3+final+1.00_03_47_16.Still066.jpg" alt="Rough v6 4 3 final 1.00_03_47_16.Still066.jpg" /></noscript><img class="thumb-image" data-src="https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/5b67244212b13f4790f85c59/1554496579762-XPZTBD6EKJL0Y697GALO/ke17ZwdGBToddI8pDm48kDHPSfPanjkWqhH6pl6g5ph7gQa3H78H3Y0txjaiv_0fDoOvxcdMmMKkDsyUqMSsMWxHk725yiiHCCLfrh8O1z4YTzHvnKhyp6Da-NYroOW3ZGjoBKy3azqku80C789l0mwONMR1ELp49Lyc52iWr5dNb1QJw9casjKdtTg1_-y4jz4ptJBmI9gQmbjSQnNGng/Rough+v6+4+3+final+1.00_03_47_16.Still066.jpg" data-image="https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/5b67244212b13f4790f85c59/1554496579762-XPZTBD6EKJL0Y697GALO/ke17ZwdGBToddI8pDm48kDHPSfPanjkWqhH6pl6g5ph7gQa3H78H3Y0txjaiv_0fDoOvxcdMmMKkDsyUqMSsMWxHk725yiiHCCLfrh8O1z4YTzHvnKhyp6Da-NYroOW3ZGjoBKy3azqku80C789l0mwONMR1ELp49Lyc52iWr5dNb1QJw9casjKdtTg1_-y4jz4ptJBmI9gQmbjSQnNGng/Rough+v6+4+3+final+1.00_03_47_16.Still066.jpg" data-image-dimensions="2500x1875" data-image-focal-point="0.5,0.5" alt="Rough v6 4 3 final 1.00_03_47_16.Still066.jpg" data-load="false" data-image-id="5ca7bc3fa4222f12e1250ea8" data-type="image" /> </div> </div> </div> </div></div><div class="sqs-block html-block sqs-block-html" data-block-type="2" id="block-yui_3_17_2_1_1554496266562_47673"><div class="sqs-block-content"><p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">The shoot was a blast. We shot up in Palmdale and Lancaster, CA. Everything came together in the just the right way, it's one of those 'stars aligning' kind of moments. Even on the scout, we were struck with a strange amount of luck. The video includes a scene with a dog. I wanted a wolf-almost coyote looking-dog to be an ominous symbol of the collision of the car accident. On one of our scouts looking for a desert road, it was sunset, exactly when we wanted to shoot on the real day, and coming from a side road was THE dog. A beautiful husky with piercing blue eyes. Sebastian grabbed some almonds from the car and started feeding them to the dog (which we named Bobby). It was this eerily magical moment. Bobby was docile and friendly and even posed for a few scouting photos so I could photo board the entire scene. We marked on the map where we met him and came back another day to find him again. We launched the company in September 2018 and were almost immediately too busy to do anything but go along for the ride of our lives…and then this week all of our press hit, and now our friends from around the world have been reaching out to congratulate us for the launch of a company that was launched six months ago. LOL.</p><p style="white-space:pre-wrap;">In all seriousness, this is a great moment for Tomorrow. It’s a time of reflection too: we feel so lucky to be loudly out in the world, and we also feel fortunate to have so many people who have helped us get this far. Right now, it seems appropriate to acknowledge a handful of people:</p><p style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Alon – for his selfless, tireless help. He’s brought so much smart thinking and experience to the party.</p><p style="white-space:pre-wrap;">The best group of reps in the business, all who were willing to take a chance on us when we were brand new. We are talking about Harrison from <a href="https://www.heromgmt.tv/" target="_blank">Hero Management</a>! And Marni and Sean from <a href="https://www.collectivemanagement.tv/" target="_blank">Collective Management</a>! And Diane from <a href="https://thefamilynyc.com/" target="_blank">The Family</a>! We are privileged to have them fight on the front lines for us.</p><p style="white-space:pre-wrap;">The ad agencies who were willing to trust us right from the start, especially Commonwealth, Heat, DiMassimoGoldstein, Evoke, Connelly &amp; Partners, Vans General Store, GTB and TBWA/Chiat Day.</p><p style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Jason. Jenny and her team at Witness Me. Aesli. CW and everybody at Need. Our friends at Line By Line. Tony and his team at CMS.</p><p style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Every line producer and bidding producer and freelancer who has helped us…some who even sacrificed their nights and weekends for the greater good.</p><p style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Every crew member who has represented Tomorrow with so much integrity on our sets.</p><p style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Our family members and loved ones who have not only supported us but have also jumped in and rolled up their sleeves to help us at a moment’s notice, regardless of the time of day. A special shout out to Julie, Pamela and Colleen. Thank you.</p><p style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Here are three of our favorite press hits so far:</p><p style="white-space:pre-wrap;"><a href="https://lbbonline.com/news/chris-zander-and-andrew-wonder-launch-tomorrow/" target="_blank">Little Black Book</a></p><p style="white-space:pre-wrap;"><a href="https://www.shootonline.com/news/ep-chris-zander-director-andrew-wonder-launch-tomorrow" target="_blank">Shoot</a></p><p style="white-space:pre-wrap;"><a href="https://sourcecreative.extremereach.com/cmspage/2112/article?ArticleId=b4b0290d-f89a-4fe5-9b29-fab3f67ddf0a" target="_blank">Source</a></p><p style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Tomorrow is a living, breathing, thriving company thanks to all of these people and companies. We hope that they all feel a little prouder today knowing that they’ve had something to do with this early success. Great things are lining up here, and we couldn’t be more grateful and excited for the future.</p></div></div></div></div></div>

Sorry - here goes the preachy. We used Job #2 as a laboratory to implement a few of Tomorrow’s core practices and values. We insisted on hiring a diverse and inclusive crew. If you looked around on the shoot days, you’d see more women and people of color doing important jobs. That felt good.</p><p style="white-space:pre-wrap;">It is now Tomorrow policy (written in the brand new Tomorrow Production Guidelines Manual) to hire a PA from Manifest Works (manifestworks.org) on every one of our shoots. Salim was the best, and he’ll definitely be asked back on our next LA shoot.</p><p style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Tomorrow’s favorite art department person Diana created an organization called Set For Life. The foundation takes the massive amount of leftover set dressing generated by shoots and uses it to create beautiful living spaces for people in transitional housing. Tomorrow donated everything it could to help out. You can find out more about it here: http://setforlife.org.</p></div></div></div></div></div>

We Are Tomorrow 11.09.18
We Are Tomorrow
<p>For hundreds of millions of years, dinosaurs ruled the world, but in a very short period (Wikipedia says 65 million years ago), they died off suddenly, and scientists are not really sure why. Was this caused by a huge asteroid that hit the earth? A supervolcano that spewed out so much dust that the sun was blotted out for months? A nimble rat-like mammal called a Cimolestes that voraciously ate dinosaur eggs? Or all of the above?</p><p>We are Tomorrow. Think of us as the asteroid, supervolcano or Cimolestes that took out the dinosaurs.</p><p>Before we started this company in late 2018, we looked around and saw a lot of the Same in our industry: Negativity. Fear. Fat. Old ways of thinking. Old ways of solving problems. Legacy companies and brands that spent all of their time talking about adjusting instead of putting their entire focus on CREATING. Old companies that were trying to pivot over and over again to stay relevant (“Look at our new content division!!”). Old white guys who thought that the world owed them a big salary...regardless of the worth that they were contributing. A systemic treatment of women and people of color that should have embarrassed everybody, but didn’t, often because they were too busy denying it existed in the first place. A fatalistic approach to business that was self-fulfilling...</p><p>Tomorrow was created to take a stand for a new way of doing things. We are the luckiest people at the greatest time in the history of mankind. We feel the same way about the advertising industry too: the tools and the knowledge we have today to create and be creative have never been better. Movements like #metoo and #freethebid have forced positive, abrupt change. On a daily basis, those of us lucky enough to work in this business get to collaborate with creative agencies and advertisers, and the reality is that our jobs are more like a fun game than almost any other job that we could think of doing. How lucky are we? Sometimes we get to make amazing work with amazing people. Other times we get to make short films or music videos or feature films or take photos. Take everything on this list, put it in an oversized food processor, and the nut butter you’d get out of it is more tasty, satisfying and nutritious than anything else we could possibly be doing with our short time on Earth.</p><p>Tomorrow People are positive, active, self-creators who happen to want to make the world a better place. We won’t be preachy about this most of the time, but we will walk the walk.</p><p>Stay tuned and thanks for reading.</p><p><br></p>
